I used twitter, facebook, newsvine, and instagram. On facebook and twittter i found more opinions rather than real valid information. my topic is real opinion based so it hard to find precise real in depth information. But i was able to find a lot of pretty cool things. For example i would have never known that the word hope dates back all the way to ancient Greek mythology. I must say newsvine is pretty cool, it is like a new twist on the news that make things interactive with its user. Personally i use social networks for many of things, to network, connect with my friends old and new, to be nosy to see what other people are talking. Because in one fashion or another we are all uniformly nosy to want to continuously read what others are talking about.  Right the social media that has majority of my attention is Instagram. That social sight is very addicting, it is basically like twitter but with pictures.

  1. Gheran, great that you were able to find some interesting new information on your research topic. You're definitely right that a lot of things you find on Facebook and Twitter will be opinions as opposed to well-reasoned arguments. But when Twitter and Facebook users at least post a link to some article or other type of source (even if it's something like an infographic or meme) you can utilize your CRAAP test skills and think about its authority, intended audience, purpose, etc. Sometimes even when something is more casual in nature, it can be an appropriate source of information. But it always depends on the context in which it will be used.
